I used to test out many recovery tools due to my sister. Once she was working on a word doc, fat fingered the document blank, hit save and now has wiped out about a month's worth of work. The freewares turned out to be a complete waste of time. Only this tool https://www.pandorarecovery.com/recover-word-document.html did wonders, but it was pricey

To recover files and folders from the encrypted drive, launch EFS Recovery and enter your volume Recovery Key. If the key matches, the product will automatically scan the BitLocker volume to locate any recoverable files and folders, detecting and fixing file system errors if that option is selected.
